If you want to perform periodic maintenance on your Liebherr yourself, this blog lists some useful tips for the most common maintenance jobs. If you run into any trouble, our specialists are at your service!
It is important to change the engine oil and filters of your machine in good time. Contaminated oil and clogged filters reduce engine performance and can even lead to increased wear and tear.
A fuel filter prevents dirt from getting into the engine. The filter can become clogged with dirt. Algae, for example, is a common cause of clogging. (see our blog)
The filter must be replaced in good time. If this filter clogs up with dirt, the engine power will be severely reduced.
How long the oil can last, varies per emission requirement. If your machine is often used in activities with strict emission requirements, the interval is higher. In addition, the cleaner the engine, the longer the interval is. More recent excavator models have the cleanest engines. The operating instructions for your machine contain all the information on interval times.
There are various types of engine oil. The most common ones are the oils with E4, E6 and E8 in the type number. The manual of your machine tells you which oil you need. The lubricating effect of E4 is lower than that of E6 and E8. This is because the viscosity is lower.
Changing oil is not difficult to do yourself. No special tools are required. Of course, you have to make time for it. Don't forget the gearbox oil. If you have any questions or need help, our specialists will be happy to help you.
Crankcase vapours are usually caused by diesel vapour escaping along the piston rings during the power stroke of an internal combustion engine. These vapours end up under the crankcase. The filter purifies these vapours.
The crankcase filter must be replaced in accordance with certain maintenance intervals. Check the manual for the interval that applies to your machine. Or ask our specialists.
Air filters ensure that clean air is sucked into the engine. Replace them in good time. This improves the life span of the turbocharger.
The only oil that's suitable for a Liebherr gearbox is Type LS90 oil. Make sure you always use this type when changing oil. Not quite sure? Please contact one of our specialists.
If you want to adjust the valves yourself, be sure to do so after every 2,000 operating hours. We supply a complete package for valve adjustment so that you can get the job done yourself. Of course, we can also do the job for you, if you prefer.
