Regular oil changes are important for all excavators, transfer machines and earth-moving machines. Below, we explain how this works.
Hydraulic oil is essential for Liebherr machines. The oil is pumped around the entire machine: the swivel motor, swivel pump, main pump, drive motors, and various cylinders. All parts work with the same oil, except for the final drive, the diesel engine, swing gearbox, and gearbox. These parts contain their own specific oil.
Hydraulic oil generally lasts for 6,000 operational hours. This varies greatly per machine and also depends on how the machine is used.
Although, as a precaution, oil is often replaced on time, replacing oil is expensive. That's why it is better to check whether the oil really needs replacing. Proceed as follows:
Wear is inevitable when using a machine. Wear causes fine iron particles to end up in the hydraulic oil. The more iron there is in the oil, the higher chance of wear. Have your oil replaced in time if the iron values are too high.
Viscosity provides information about the thickness of the oil. As the viscosity of the oil decreases, it loses its lubricating properties. That is why we measure the viscosity when we need to know more about the oil's shelf life.
If, after measuring the oil, it becomes clear that the oil needs to be replaced, do so as soon as possible to ensure that your Liebherr stays in top condition.
