Axles and axle parts for Liebherr excavators

Common defects in axle parts

The axle drives a mobile Liebherr excavator, transferring power from the engine to the wheels. Due to the force exerted on the components, they are subject to significant wear. Over time, the axle or its parts will need replacement. We stock axles and used axle parts for nearly every Liebherr machine.

The steering unit is one of the most frequently replaced axle parts, specifically the left steering unit. It is used most often during driving, as it provides visibility from the cab. The right steering unit is used less and therefore wears out slower.

Other frequently replaced parts include couplings that may become loose and stub axles. In gear systems, excessive wear and high loads can cause teeth to break.

Installing used axle parts or complete axles

For repairing the axle of your Liebherr excavator, we recommend installing a used axle part. A new part in a used steering unit or differential causes more wear on the old components. This is because the new material is in better condition and does not align optimally with the older parts.

If replacing axle parts is not an option, we also stock complete front and rear axles to replace the entire axle. We can assemble these based on your machine and specifications, or we can search for a suitable axle for you. Using a used axle extends the lifespan of your Liebherr machine at a modest cost.
